Suggest Treatment For Lump In The Right Side Of The Perineum

Posted on Tue, 3 Jan 2017
Question: Hi I am 39 year old male, with no health issues and a healthy lifestyle. I noticed a small squishy lump on the right side of my perineum in between my scrotum and anus. It seems to change in size, but is small. I also feel some tenderness when I am standing, I dont know if thats all in my head or not. About a month ago I recently changed jobs and am now on my feet for a good 8 hours a day without sitting. The only reason I am concerned is when I think lump I think cancer. The lump feels likes its on a tendon or something that is running under my skin that appears to be attached to the base of my penis.

I noticed it a week ago right around the time i got my cold and started the antibiotics for my finger infection. It seems to change from the size of a pea to maybe 2 or 3 peas. There is no discharge, it is under the skin. You cant see it from the outside, you have to press your finger to feel it.

I forgot to mention I have had a cold for a week and am on antibiotics for an infection I got on my finger from a cut. I have no changes in my urination or bowel movement habits.

Brief Answer:
As discussed in details below.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback and description.
Since there is not much of a severe pain or so, this is most probably a boil.
If this would have been due to fistula of any sort, the pains would have been very severe.
Occurrence of cancer in this area is almost unheard of, hence stop thinking about cancer.
It may be possible that you are already under antibiotic cover hence in effect it might not have progressed much.
Continue antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication and see the response and consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation and examination if the lesion progresses further, have reference to the General Surgeon if needed for proper confirmation of diagnosis and proper management to avoid further complications.
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communications.

After more research the lump located on either the bulbospongiosus or ischiocavernosus muscle. It is on the right side of the penis. Is this normal? Is this something I should be very concerned about? I have had extreme anxiety about having cancer. Please let me know what you think

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
This may not be a cancer but the location of the lump is very atypical.
I would advise you to undergo high resolution ultrasonography with color doppler mode or MRI of the area to make sure what the lump is about, whether can FNAC be done without any complications, to know the extent, depth and consistency/ components of the lump.
Consult a General Surgeon or an Urologist for proper clinical evaluation, examination and correlation with the investigations.
