Brief Answer:
Need some extra information if you do not mind ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The lump in the throat along with sputum could be indicative of an upper respiratory tract infection; but before this I would like to ask you a few questions:

+When you say mucus, do you mean sputum? If yes, what colour is it?
+Do you have a temperature?
+Do you have any trouble with heartburn?
+Any bitter taste in mouth from regurgitation of food or drink into your mouth?
+Any gas related issues?
+Long gaps between meals?
+Increased acidity?
+Cough (dry or with sputum)?

I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you better.

Best wishes.

No just mucus like it is developing in the throat.
No temperature.
Yes i have trouble with heart burn.
no to the regurgitation,
I am not sure what you mean by gas related issues.
No long gaps between meals
there has been acidity a few days ago but I seemed to have got it under control
When I cough right now it is just the mucus in my throat.

Brief Answer:
A few suggestions, try following them and report to me if they help

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and thank you for your response.

Based on the provided information, you do not seem to have the specific symptoms or signs to confirm an infection, thus starting you on a course of antibiotics wouldn't be advised. The reason this is, is to avoid the abuse of antibiotics resulting in development of early resistance to antibiotics. But if you really wish, I can provide you with a preventive course of antibiotics (short course), but only if you have access to medications without a prescription where you live.

I asked you a few questions about a condition called GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), and although you do not have all the symptoms, you are exhibiting a few. So I would like to provide you with the following suggestions:

+Avoid spicy food
+Avoid fried food
+Avoid oily food
+Avoid fatty food
+Drink plenty of water
+Use one tablet of lansoprazole 150 mg every morning mandatory; and a tablet of ranitidine or omeprazole every time you have heartburn
+Avoid smoking
+Avoid alcohol
+Avoid carbonated drinks
+Have 5-6 smaller meals instead of 2-3 larger ones
+Avoid long gaps between meals
+Avoid stress
+Avoid vigorous exercise
+Continue with warm water and salt gargles several times a day
+Avoid food prepared outside
+Have a liquid or semi-solid diet for a while

Please keep me in the loop on any developments.
