Suggest Treatment For Lump On Forehead
Question: I have a small hard oval-ish shaped lump on my forehead. It is right in the crevice of my frontal lobe. If I press it, it will move to the right or left, not far, but it does move a little. It feels like a small bb underneath my skin. I never noticed it before, but if I look in the mirror, now its all I see. I inspected some old pictures and it seems that it may have been there for a while, possibly a few years. My head has a bunch of dents and dinks in that area, so its hard to tell. It feels it has gotten bigger in a week, although my wife is saying that may be because I have not stopped playing with it for more than 5 minutes. I am clinically a hypocandriac, so this isn't a good day.
Brief Answer:
This is a lipoma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
This lump is definitelly a lipoma. This kind of lump is a benign soft tissue leasion which does not turn into a cancer. Usually lipoma gets slowly bigger. It never gives pain in this location.
If it bothers you, please consult general surgeon. It can be removed with small incision and local anesthesia.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Thank you Dr. Stanko,
I had a lipoma on my back, a few years ago. I had it removed. Very easy.
But this one on my head feels a bit harder then the lipoma on my back.
That was my concern.

Brief Answer:
No need to be concerned.
Detailed Answer:
It feels harder because on the head there is no fatty tissue under the skin. And the skin is thin. Skull is right above this thin skin. This is much different than on the back.
Still I am pretty sure this is a lipoma.
No need to be concerned.

Can aggressively running and poking at a lipoma cause it to become inflamed and appear bigger?
I meant rubbing

Brief Answer:
Yes this is possible.
Detailed Answer:
Yes, it is possible. When constantly pressing on it or playing with it, tissues get irritated. Blood flow increases in this area and can cause an inflammation.

I am going to see my gp, next week to speak about getting it removed. In the interim I am self conscious about it's appearance. Can I do anything to bring it down, besides stop touching it? Like ice or I read garlic paste, etc...
Brief Answer:
Lukewarm compress should help.
Detailed Answer:
Ice is not a good idea as it can harm your skin. But you can use lukewarm compresses. And try to not touch it.

Now that I am aware of this, I can feel it. There is just a little bit of pressure in that exact spot. If I bend over I can feel it even more. My question is, is this the lipoma itself or a result of my constant touching and pressing? And if so, how long before the tissue inflammation returns to normal?
Brief Answer:
Lipoma is not causing such symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Can you please attach another photo of it?
Such symptoms are caused by an inflammation. Lipoma itself does not cause such symptoms. It should go away within few days if its only superficial inflammation.
