Suggest Treatment For Lump On Side Of Rectum Causing Blood Discharge
Question: I noticed a small pea sized lump on the side of my rectal opening about 6 months ago. I researched what it could be and thought it may be a hemroid. I started using cream to heal the area, but the lump never went away. Occasionally when I have a bowel movement and wipe I get blood on the paper, I have also noticed a few times 2-3 drops of blood in the toilet. I have just dealt with this issue for 6 months, but yesterday I noticed another lump but this one is far more painful and swollen to the point that its hard to go to the bathroom. I usually have a bowel movement 4-5 times a day, but since this started, I have only been able to go 2 times in 2 days. It hurts to sit, bend down, and cough. Do you have any advice for me since I have no insurance and have put this off because of no way to afford to see a doctor.

I read your question and I understand your concern. You have a painful lump around anus with occasional blood in stools. This could be either external hemorrhoid or an anal fissure with tag. Possibility of rectal prolapse is less as that surrounds whole lump. Peri anal abscess can also present like this but in that case history is short and fever is accompanied.
Nutshell to narrow the differential anal examination is mandatory. Digital rectal examination and thorough assessment of peri anal area will confirm the diagnosis and the treatment will be advised accordingly. Haemorrhoids will probably need band ligation or if low grade then conservative treatment. If any fissure will need dilation. If prolapse then excision and if abscess drainage.

3. Blot the anus gently with white toilet paper moistened with water or a cleaning agent like XXXXXXX ne old etc after every bowel movement. Avoid rubbing the anus. You can rinse it off in a shower or on a bidet instead of wiping and rubbing. Use soft absorbent cloth like towel for drying anus. Avoid soaps that contain any kind of perfume or dyes. Avoid sitting or standing for prolonged time and wear loose undergarment preferably made of cotton to prevent moisture and sweat there.
Also treat constipation promptly as that exacerbates the symptoms. Consult your doctor for further management.
