2) There is no discharge or itching. The lump is approx 2" or more around inside my leg, there is no skin breakage.
3) Yes, there is a slight elevation, there is no outside lesion. That's why at first I thought had a bruise, no cut, scratch no mark of any kind outside.
4) Not extremely painful, more tender. However, it hurts when I place pressure on it. That's why the new socks hurt. They were tight around the calf.
5) I got kicked by a horse as a child. It left a half moon mark on my leg. This bruise is slightly below and to the right of the kick mark. The kick mark left a permanent scar approx 2-3" and a slight permanent indention.
6) I do not have hypertension nor diabetes. I do have Lupus, also episcleritis (eyes) So I take Predisome for both. Also I have arthritis, taking Celebrex and Methotrexate, Advil PM.
Taking a picture would really not help much. Some of the redness is gone and the elevated part does not show up in pictures. There is no outside mark on my leg, the hard lump in inside the leg and does not show up in a picture. I tried many angles, but no significant part can be seen.
Likely to be Panniculitis
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms
Going by description of your symptoms possibly of Panniculitis (inflammation of subcutaneous fat ) needs to be considered, it's also more likely seen in individual with Lupus.
There is no cause for concern as it's self limiting. I would suggest you the following
1. Adequate rest and elevation of limb while sleeping (place the leg on two pillows while sleeping )
2. Local application of Ice will be helpful
3. As you have taken steroid (Prednisone ) that will also help reduce inflammation
4. Analgesic like Ibuprofen will be helpful
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life.
Take care
