Suggest Treatment For Lymphoma In The Back Of Throat

Question: My 25 year old son has found a growth in the back of his throat where his left tonsil was. a CT scan has been done. The C word has been mentioned. Opinion?

You have mentioned that the growth is the site where the left tonsil was. Does that imply that the left tonsil has been removed? Whatever the case may be tonsil is common site development of lymphoma. You can wait for the CT scan report. After the CT scan, a biopsy of the growth should be done for histopathological examination. Depending on the results of biopsy, further management will be planned. If it turns out to be lymphoma, chemotherapy will be started. If the lesion turns out to be some other lesion, the appropriate treatment can be instituted. yes he had tonsils and adenoids out at age 6. His father passed away from melanoma at age 42. It had reached his lymp nodes. We will know the results today from CT. If neg, should we still remove this growth? Tumor? Whatever it is. Do you feel we have a serious issue at hand? So scared for my son. Thank you for your time.
