Brief Answer:
long term therapy, drugs have fair prognosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The main treatment of masochistic (histrionic) personality disorder lies in long term and regular psychotherapy sessions. Patient is encouraged to talk about her life, wishes, feelings that are difficult to handle and all other aspects. Then they are provided with a diifferent view of the situation and slowly gradually their outlook and approach towards life changes.

Apart from therapy patient should be screened for depressive and anxiety symptoms and handled. Drugs can be added as and when need arises.

In therapy if doctor feels that the patient has episodes of voilence towards self or others or aggression which is difficult to control then too drugs become necessary.
usually, drugs like sertraline or quitiapine have been shown to have good response.

The prognosis is dependent on will of patient and persistence of follow up in therapy sessions. Usually, with long term dedicated psychotherapy there is fair response in lifestyle of patient.

hope the reply is useful for you. Please ask more questions for further clarification.

wish you good health.
