Brief Answer:
It depends on type of colon cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Survival rate in colon cancer depends on type, stage and grade of cancer and treatment.

Metastatic colon cancer is stage 4 cancer so prognosis is poor irrespective of type. Survival rate is very low and life expectancy is also very low. However effect of chemotherapy depend on type. In general 5 yesr survival rate is very low.
Please send me histopathological report so that I can know the type of cancer like adenocarcinoma or others and other parameters and I can say more conclusively that what is the survival rate.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

Brief Answer:
Treatment of choice is chemotherapy/radiotherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
It is stage 4 cancer so surgery will not work. Treatment options are chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However it depends on type and grade of cancer. Treatment depends on stage, type and grade. It is stage 4 as you said but type and grade of cancer is also required to decide treatment and prognosis. Please either tell me type and grade or send me your reports so that I can help you further.

It wAs grade 2 at surgery.

Moderatley differentiated.

U see at surgery all was fine. No spread. The probs arose after operation on bowel.

August last year- 1 liver met and 1 lymph node

Oct- irinotecan started

January 2015- scan confirms met grew and a sub pleural nodule.

The oncologist was no good- just said no treatment

We sought a sec opinion - onco advises different chemo and ablation on liver.

Private ct done - more mets to liver ( as no treatment since jan).

So now try this diff chemo and dr lookjng into sirt treatment.

I attach both january n march scan reports. So in space of 8 weeks more mets appear.

Is the subpleural nodule likely to b metastic in XXXXXXX scan as it does not say met and no measurement too?

Brief Answer:
Chemoresistant with progressive disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through your reports.
You have moderately differentiated colorectal carcinoma with multiple liver metastasis.
Your liver metastasis and subplural metastasis developed or increased while on the treatment of chemotherapy.
So it is a case of Chemoresistanse. Your chemotherapy is not working.

Your cancer is not suitable for operative or ablative treatment.

So treatment options are either other combination of chemotherapy or sirt. However in most of the cases prognosis remains poor despite of this treatment. These treatment is not curative. It can increase your life soan for 3 to 6 months. However you should not expect anymore with this treatment. Sorry to say but it is bitter fact in terminal stage cancer.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

But is the sub pleural a metastases? As radiologist just says nodule ?

Is it worth doing sirt?

Brief Answer:
Most probably it is due to metastasis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have multiple metastatic nodule in liver, also there is nodule in adrenal and lung. In correlation with all these features, most probably it is due to metastasis.

However it doesn't matter it is metastatic or not. You have other metastatic lesion already there.

SIRT will not cure the disease. Its just like palliative radiation treatment. It will increase some life span. But ultimate outcome is poor.

In my opinion at this stage no drug should be given. Different combination of chemotherapy will have many side effects and worsen the quality of life. I m sorry to say but it is fact. You should not expect any improvements. At this stage you should look at the functionality and or may be enter into hospice if you wish to.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic.
Wish you a very good health.
