Suggest Treatment For Migraine Headache And Memory Loss

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Mar 2017
Question: My friend is in Ghana, West XXXXXXX She is in the hospital for several days now. The hospitals there are not anything like a Western Hospital. She has complete memory loss for 24 hours. Then she remembers some things but has paranoia. After a few hours, her memory seems normal but a migraine type headache does not go away. Then loss of memory happens again. They know she has had a reaction to some Anti-psychotic drugs, which can give memory loss and which did some liver damage. She is now off all of the prescription drugs. They did an MRI because a year and a half ago, she had a brain tumor, not malignant. No new tumors. They have no idea of what is causing this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. XXXXXXX Tuttle

Brief Answer:
Seizures and intoxication to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

In my opinion, in your friend's case, there are two most probable conditions to evaluate further:

1. seizures ( since there is history of benign brain tumor ), an EEG is necessary for this purpose.

2. intoxication ( toxicology screening tests about drugs, chemicals, and metabolic status tests)

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.

Just wanted to say thank you!!! The EEG sounds like the next needed step. For a lot of reasons, drugs and alcohol are extremely unlikely. Thanks!
