Posted on Mon, 27 Feb 2017
Question: I had have been digonised with mild PCOS. My gynecologist advised me to take progyputon however after 10 days of taking this tablet I started having brown and red discharge. The discharge is little though. Shall I stop the medication? I went to the gynecologist and he did for me ultrasound and said everything is normal. Then he prescribe cyclo3fort to stop the bleeding. This is the second day of bleeding and I took the tablet. Why the tablet has not stopped the bleeding yet? Do I have to be worried

Brief Answer:
It's a side effect of Progyluton

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your query.

I have read your question carefully and understand your concern.

If ultrasound was normal and you have only two days with vaginal bleeding, there is nothing to worry.

Spotting is a side effect of Progyluton , because it is a type of contraceptive pill.

Spotting (you don’t need to use a regular pad, just a panty shield) or very light bleeding may occur during the first 1-3 weeks of starting the Pill, or if you miss a pill.

If the bleeding becomes heavier or lasts more than a few days , keep taking the pill and talk with your gynaecologist.

During the time you are using Progyluton try to eat an iron rich diet with plenty of fruits .

Please feel free for further discussion .

Best regards
