Suggest Treatment For Mild Chest Pain
Question: I have been having pain in my mid chest. sometimes with no exertion. Currently I have a respiratory problem that I think is Candida related-it happens 3-4 times a year. Sometimes I get over it in one day, sometimes two or more weeks. This is my 4th and worst day. Coughing, sneezing, very stuffy since last night. usually very tired but not so much this time. I was sleeping when the chest pain woke me. It is a pressure like pain-maybe squeezing. It lasted for a half to one hour. I have had this infrequently for years. I usually notice it when I am walking uphill, but it always goes away after a short rest and as I continue to walk. If I keep up with the walking for several days (steep up hill walking) I don't experience it anymore. Todays pain was probably the worst I have had. I have checked pleurisy, bronchitis and pneumonia. I have no problem or pain deep breathing (through my mouth). There is no pain now. Taking my blood pressure during one of these pains doesn' t indicate anything.
My husband who is a podiatrist wants to take me to urgent care, thinking it might be viral pneumonia. I usually treat myself, but can't find a diagnosis for this. I would like to take natural products, such as essential oils or nutrients.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to viral cause.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through the details provided. Most often the respiratory tract infections are due to viral infections. Such viral infections can associate the pleura (a condition called pleurisy) which may lead to chest pain. Viral pneumonia is another possibility to consider.
I think that your husband is right about taking you to urgent care. It would be a good idea to get yourself evaluated. In uncomplicated cases taking steam inhalation should provide relief.
