Suggest Treatment For Mild Cognitive Impairment
Question: I am a 62 year old male. I have noticed for at least several years that my memory has been getting worse. It now appears to be seriously deficient and interferes with my ability to function normally.
My mother was the eldest of three sisters and died with Alzheimer's Disease. I think it started when she was in her late 70's. Her youngest sister also died with Alzheimer's Disease. She started declining at a somewhat earlier age.
I read about neuropsychological assessment and cognitive testing and thought they might be helpful to ascertain my status and my prognosis.
I ask your advice as to whether this is a good idea and how to select the appropriate organization or individual.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would help you in this query.
I think, you have mild cognitive impairment. It is the initial stage of Alzheimer's disease. You can take help of a neurologist to get some investigation done like MRI or mini-mental state examination. That would help you to assess the condition of brain. In your case, due to genetic predisposition, chances of Alzheimer's is high and these tests would help to check progress. You can also try some anti-Alzheimer's drugs like donepezil or mementine etc after neurologist consultation.
In case, you have more query, you can ask.
