Suggest Treatment For Mild Perifollicular Fibrosis
Question: My 21 y.o. daughter has several bumps on her leg, near her ankle. Dr did biopsy and she does not seem concerned w/ results. Path report says it is mild perifollicular fibrosis. When I googled this, it seems to refer to hair loss in men. What is it exactly?
Brief Answer:
Perifollicular fibrosis in legs can be ignored.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Mild perifollicular fibrosis in leg is not a matter of concern. It is sequel of low grade inflammation of hair follicles. After subsiding of inflammation, fibrosis occurs as a natural process.
Perifollicular fibrosis over scalp leads to loss of hairs(alopecia),but in legs it is not worrying. This condition doesn't need any active management and this is healed stage.
