Suggest Treatment For Mildly Raised SGOT Value

Question: What does an SGOT level of 49.8 indicate. In an LFT other parameters are with in permissible reference levels.

The normal range of SGOT is about 5 to 40 units per liter.
You have mildly raised SGOT value.

SGOT is normally found in red blood cells,liver cells,muscle cells and heart. It is released into the blood when these cells are damaged.
Increase in SGOT may be due to many reasons like hepatitis,alcohol intake,muscle disease,kidney,pancreas,heart or liver disease etc.

Since other parameters are normal,there is nothing to be worried about.
However,it is important to know clinical details.

You also need Ultrasound of abdomen.
Please get at least ultrasound of abdomen done.Ultrasound of abdomen is important to know the condition of liver.

Proper treatment depend upon findings.
