Suggest Treatment For Mitral Valve Prolapse

Question: I have a mitral valve prolapse. every so often it feels like my breathe is being sucked out of me. sometimes just once, sometimes a couple times close together. sometimes just for a second, sometimes a few. Its followed by a quick release of adrenaline. I was feeling my pulse after it happened 1 time and it happened again. I could feel my heart skip until it was over. to make sure i kept checking and caught it a couple more times. its scary as hell, is it skipping because of my mitral valve and is it to worry about?
Brief Answer:
It's normal to have skipped beat, don't worry...
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
It's normal for people who have mitral valve prolaps to experience tachychardia, palpitation and skipped heart beats. Apart of giving to you a feeling of discomfort and causing you a lot of stress, there's nothing to worry about.
However as a rule it's recommended to run a complete cardiac check up including:
- Cardiac ECHO
- Holter monitoring
- Stress test.
This examinations will exclude with certainty other cardiac problems (which may be asymptomatic).
Hope this was of help!
