Suggest Treatment For Muscle Cramps In The Lower Legs

Question: I am experiencing cramping in my lower legs - calf muscles. I did have a heart attack (artery blockage) in late August last year. My doctor performed the heart XXXXXXX and stint insertion to address the issue. I have not had serious issues since this incident.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome.
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
I understand that you had a heart attack earlier & must be on blood thinning medications plus a drug for cholesterol (statin).
Muscle cramping is a common side effect of statin & treatment is holding that medication till the patient gets better. To confirm it I'll recommend you for blood tests - CPK & CPKMB. If they are high it is confirmed.
Other possible cause is Vit D deficiency which is also very common. So check your Vit D3 level. If it is low take Vit D3 XXXXXXX of 60k Units once per week & you will be fine.
Hope i answered your query. If you have any more question, I'll be happy to help.
Thanks
Take care
