Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pain And GERD
Question: Hi
I am diagnosed with GERD. Doctor prescribed me Lesuride tablet twice a day. I am taking it for last 20 days and will continue further for a month. I would like to know, what are the possible side effects of this tablet?
I am often getting muscle pain, particularly on left hand, shoulder and back side. Also, sometimes on right hand/shoulder. For last couple of days, I am feeling dizzy and very weak.
Are these known side effects of these tablets or it is pointing to something else ?
As part of GERD symptoms, I used to feel heavy in the chest and breathing problem. This is reduced to some extend now. But looking at the side effects, are these common ? or do I need to see any cardiac specialist, as usually I am having pain in the left side back and shoulder ?

Brief Answer:
Muscle pain and body ache not due to Lesuride
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Muscle pain and body ache are not side effects of lesuride.
The heaviness in the chest and the breathing issue you have are symptoms of GERD. Better relief can be obtained with medications like Neksium once a day half an hour before breakfast for 4 weeks.
There is no need to consult a cardiologist.
You can take paracetamol 650 mg thrice a day till you get relief from the back and shoulder pain.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Thank you Doctor Kini!!
Few more things, I would like to know.
As I mentioned already, endoscopy test have found problem with valve between esophagus and stomach, which is little loosen up. So, Doctor I visited, has given medicines (tablet Neksium, Lesuride, Meconerve Forte) which only controls the symptoms. He has not recommended surgery as problem is minor.
I want to know,
1. How long does it take generally to resolve GERD symptoms permanently ? Or will it be there forever ?
2. Do I need to continue with diet that doctor has suggested, everyday and need to be cautious with certain food which can probably increase Acid
Re-flux?
3. One month consumption of all the above given medications wont cause any adverse effect ?
4. What extra precautions I have to take if this problem do not have permanent fix ?
Thanks
