Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pain And Cramps In Both Of My Upper Thighs
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TRIGGERS THE CRAMP, SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM ASLEEP AND OTHER TIMES JUST SITTING OR LOUNGING, USUALLY I AM AWARE OF A SORT OF MOVING SENSATION IN THE LEG BEFORE THE CRAMP ACTUALLY STARTS. RECENTLY, UNUSUALLY, BOTH LEGS WERE AFFECTED AND I COULD NOT WALK WHICH WAS VERY FRIGHTENING.
IN ADDITION I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN CROSSING MY THIGHS TO PUT SOCKS ON CAN BRING ON THE CRAMP, IF I MOVE FAST WHEN I FEEL IT COMING I CAN AVOID IT HAPPENING. I ALSO SOMETIMES
FEEL A KIND OF FLUTTERING SENSATION ON THE SKIN ON MY LEGS.
I ALSO HAVE RAISED BP AND UNDER ACTIVE THYROID - I TAKE AMLODIPINE 10MG, RAMIPRIL 7.5MG ANDLEVOTHYROXINE 175MG DAILY.
I AM 60 YEARS OLD AND AM ACTIVE AND GENERALLY FEEL WELL.
Get your vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels checked.

Hi
Thanks for your query
I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. I think you may be having vitamin and trace elements deficiency and it can cause of muscle cramps. You can get your vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels and if found low you can take their suppliments. You should also keep your thyroid level normal ( under control) as thyroid level disturbance can cause muscle pain and cramps. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen whenever you feel pain. You can take your usual medicine as already taking.
You can discuss with your doctor about it.
Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Regarding the fact that crossing my legs/thighs when putting socks on
can trigger cramp - is this a symptom of vitamin B12 and D deficiency also?
Thanks.
May be possible with vitamin D deficiency.
