Suggest Treatment For Muscle Spasms And Cramps In Hands And Feet

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Jun 2015
Question: hello, I have been having major cramping and muscle spasms, in my hands feet and I know some of it it normal like when I change shoes. My father always had hand craps and I have resigned myself to the fact that I also will have them always. But the ones that bother me the most are the ones in my upper body, waist and lower body, some seam to appear after a round of coughing from asthma and Copd triggers, but others can happen with things as simple as turning the upper body as if to look out the back window of the auto or from bending even. I have had to muscle relaxants to ease them and also I have gone to drinking plain tonic water containing quinine. I have been checked for low levels of different things by blood samples but still have no answers as to what cause them. I have not been able to be super active for years due to other health issues and wonder if some times that is what has cause them and the muscle just need to be put back in to gear. But then I also wonder if there are things I should be asking my doctor to check for me. Any feed back would be much appreciated. Thanks

Yes I have seen the doctor for this many many times and they have done many blood work ups and find nothing amiss there. I am not taking any medications other than muscle relaxants and pain pills but these spasms have been going on for years long before I started taking these meds to help with this and with back issues and the cramping. No I do not work outside the home and I drink at least 8-10, 8 oz glasses of water I drink water all day and night don't do sodas ect. And now even something as going shopping and doing the walking there also brings around of leg cramps, I think that comes from not doing a lot of walking, I am trying to do more to help with my health and back.
Thanks

Hello,
Read your reply.
The most common causes for muscle spasms and cramps are....
Lack of calcium,magnesium,potassium,sodium etc
Lack of VIT D
Lack of VIT B1 ,B 6
Hypothyroidism and hypoparathyroidism
In case anything is missing from the above mentioned list ( from the tests you have done ) ,then get it done.
Sometimes it becomes very difficult to exactly pinpoint the cause for such spasms and in that case one is left with no other option except using muscle relaxants only,as you are doing.
I hope it helps however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
