Posted on Tue, 22 Jul 2014
Question: Hi Sir,
Most of the time I suffer from nervous and muscular pain in my right head and neck for the last 10 years. My muscles get stiff .Generally because of stomach upset , heavy food ,more physical labour, stress, insufficient water and due to very high and low temperature.
After taking various medicine I realized that I get relief from ibugesic Plus syrup. So is it fine to take this syrup frequently in small dosages like once or twice in a month

? Tension headache/ ? migraine

Detailed Answer:
Hi there...

Thanks for writing in...

Did you mean ibugesic plus syrup or tab. Syrup is generally meant for paediatric age group, and the dosage might not be enough for treatment of symptoms in adults.
Also , if you have stomach upsets /acidity related problems, it is best to avoid ibugesic plus. It would be safer to take a tablet of paracetamol, when you get the headache. From your symptoms, it seems that you might be mainly suffering from tension headaches.

Another possibility is migraine.

I would advise you to sign up for yoga classes. Yoga, relaxation exercises help to reduce stress and is good for both the mind and body.

Regular exercise 30 minutes a day 5 days a week might be beneficial.

Eat well balanced meals.

Drink 8-10 glassses of water a day.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan

Thanks Doctor . But I have the permanent muscular stiffness in right neck , head and in full right body due to excessive exercise in XXXXXXX 10-12 years back. Taking paracetamol would be good to relief from pain for that duration . But this stiffness is root cause of my pain which stimulate on the various factors discussed earlier. I am looking for a permanent treatment for that so that I can live the rest of my life without any fear of pain and demotivation. looking for a more considerate answer. Thanks

Brief Answer:
rheumatology consultation might help...

Detailed Answer:
Have you tried ayurvedic massage therapy?

Or maybe hot fomentation/ warm water baths. That might help to a certain extent.

If none of this help, I would advise a rheumatology consultation to rule out other medical causes of muscle stiffness...

Ayurvedic consultation.

Massages are beyond my knowledge. You will have to consult with an ayurvedic doctor, and he/she might recommend which kind of treatment is best for you.
You can visit Fortis XXXXXXX where you find Rheumatologist.
