Question: My daughter in law has mg and ms, she is progressing downhill fast even with treatment, planning to get some 24 hour help but wondering if the downhill progression reflects limited time here for her to do her own ADL's if remission is not achieved how much time do we have to get prepared to take care of her. XXXXXXX is 45, blind from the mg, and is losing the ability to walk now.

I am a retired RN 35 years and XXXXXXX is looking gaunt and weak. Would appreciate any info when she has asked her drs they look at the floor and don't answer when she asks them how long she has?

She's been on high doses of steroids of 80 mg day and now having rods being placed due to spinal deterioration .

Brief Answer:
Tough questions are looked down

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for XXXXXXX I empathize her situation.

It takes longer time for the weakness to progress from limbs to respiratory muscles and they begin reducing the breathing process. The accessory muscles of respiration are involuntary and take longer time to get affected. So I cannot pin point the time she has left with but longer enough for her to seek her change in treatment or look for other doctors to assist her.

Your doctors or any doctor may not be able to give a specific time line. They always look for hope and preach hope. I have a feeling that her progression can be arrested anytime with the best treatments. There are multimodal treatments for Myasthenia Gravis and Multiple sclerosis available.

You should give her the hope and see the best Neurologists.
