Suggest Treatment For Myoclonic Seizures In A Child
Anti epileptic medications are need to be continued
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking on this platform
Myoclonic seizures are different from other type of seizures and usually difficult to control.
Valparin(valproic acid)and rivotril(clonazepam)are very good medication to control myoclonic seizure.
Axepta contains atomoxetin and is used for ADHD.
The response to the treatment is assessed by serial EEG in followup. The normal EEG shows good response to the treatment and also rules out any subclinical seizure.
Even if EEG is normal treatment is usually continued for 5 years in case of myoclonic seizure.
You have mentioned that the EEG is not normal.
I would like to know, when the last EEG was done and whether he is taking the medicines regularly or not.
In case the EEG is abnormal even after having medications it indicates subclinical seizure and so I suggest you to consult your doctor to assess the need of increase in dose of anti epileptic or any change in anti epileptic.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more query.
wishing for your child's good health.
