Suggest Treatment For Nail Infection While On Itraconazole
Question: My aunty is suffering from nail infection for the past five years. She used the ointment in the early days later due to severe pain, itching and swelling, doctor advised her to take itraconazole tablet and to remove the nail . Kindly tell me the recent medicines and whether removing the nail will completely cure the infection?
Brief Answer:
Removing nail might not cure the infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It seems that probably you may be having onycomycosis.
Kindly continue itroconazole for long time.
Apply antifungal solution on nails.
The fungal infection is likely at the root of nail..so the removing nail might not cure the infection. So do not go for the nail removal surgery.
I hope this would help you.
