default
Posted on Tue, 28 Feb 2017
Question: Hi. My husband is experiencing a nose bleed for the second time this week. He is a diabetic. What brings on a nose bleed? Should we be alarmed? Right now he is sitting forward and his nose is pinched on the bony part holding for about 10 mins. We will be going to our doctor in a week. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Needs evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
See, nose bleed can be due to high blood pressure, bleeding disorders or nasal polyps or infections

First of all, get his blood pressure checked, if that comes out to be high , your doctor would treat it.

Now in case, blood pressure comes out to be normal , he would require a local examination of his nose to rule out polyps along with coagulation profile to rule out any bleeding disorder.

I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
