Posted on Wed, 29 Jul 2015
Question: I'm currently feeling what I can only guess is nasal drip. My stomach is upset. I'm swallowing constantly and its beginning to hurt. Not to mention my right ear feels numb thought out the day. What should I do? I had a sinus infection a few months ago. Could it be related?

Brief Answer:
Yes, they could be related!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this constant nasal drip you have mentioned. This can be very much related to your sinus infection a few months back ago if it were not appropriately cleared off. Postnasal drips causes a chronic and irritative cough. The pain is also suggestive of this.

This points to the fact that there is possible a pocket of infection/inflammed area that was not adequately treated. I will recommend you get a CT os the head to look at the sinus cavities for evidence of infection. A treatment plan would be guided by the findings. At times, you may need a process to go and directly open up the sinuses for treatment and complete infection control.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.

Brief Answer:
ENT doctor! If difficult, start with a family physician!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

An ENT doctor would be the best person to see. However, most family physicians can start the process of investigation and may only refer you to see an ENT if they think they are unable to address it fully.

If seeing an ENT is easy and straight forward, go for one. If it is a complex procedure, I suggest you start with a family physician.

I wish you well.
