Question: N
I've never had hay fever before (live in NZ) but last 2-3 days nasal irritation, swelling and wheezing/breathless. Intermittant symptoms; worse today. Tried antihistamine tabs, flixotide nasal spray, decongestant nasal spray, Salbutamol inhaler, all with little relief. Wheezing and coughing improved but breathless just sitting. Should I see doc for prednisone or...? What else might help?

Brief Answer:
You should see your doctor for prednisone or steroid inhaler.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query.

You should see your doctor for prednisone or steroid inhaler.

Till then I would advice,
Continue antihistamine tabs, flixotide nasal spray, Salbutamol inhaler.
Use Steam Inhalation twice daily,
Saline nasal spray or rinse thrice daily

Stop decongestant nasal spray should not be use for more than 4 days.

Hope it is helpful to you. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards

Thanks for that; I don't think I meet the funding criteria in NZ for this drug, but I will ask the doctor. Just one more thought: I started taking low dose aspirin (100mg daily) about the day these symptoms first occurred. Any connection? I don't have a rash, so thinking I'm not allergic to aspirin, and we are in summer here with grass seed/ flowering although I have no history of hay fever.

It is less likely you are allergic to aspirin.

It is less likely you are allergic to aspirin but it will aggregate breathlessness .
