Brief Answer:
Surgery, not required.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that your son is having deviated nasal septum.

Deviations are common in newborns or children, most of them are asymptomatic. If they are symptomatic (nasal obstruction or sinusitis or eustacian tube dysfunctions) needs to me managed medically.

Surgery is contraindicated in children (ossification occurs at 18 yrs, any surgery before ossification may change the shape of nose and can cause disfigurement).

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
blood tests and X ray naso pharynx.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

As per your photo, there is an external deviation of nose.

Do not worry, it gets corrected on its own by the age of 18 years. If not surgery can be done when he crosses 18 years (ossification ends).

Related to frequent episodes of cold, need to evaluate with ent surgeon for allergic rhinitis (blood tests), adenoiditis (x-ray naso pharynx or tonsillitis (ent examination).

Kindly evaluate.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Take care.
