The Doctors know about the side affects he is suffering but have told him to continue to take the tablets. The is 750mg - take one tablet twice a day at least half an hour before meals - but he is not having meals. Howard is an In-Patient at home and cannot leave our home. He was a patient in the R.M.H. Can you help us? We don't know what to do. Our e-mail is YYYY@YYYY . Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief answer...Given below
Detailed answer...
I can understand your problem and feel that probably your doctor is not realising the severity of the condition.
Since antibiotics associated Gastrointestinal symptoms are quite common and are mild in general, your doctor is probably taking it the same way.
Ideally the antibiotic should be stopped, stool must be checked for any offending pathogen, proper rehydration by electrolytes and fluids, consumption of probiotics, giving light food like applesauce and banana, avoidance of tea, coffee and spicy foods is the line of treatment which should be adopted.
This becomes all the more important considering the fact that the patient is old,not taking food and is a diabetic.
You must consult your doctor urgently or may even go to ER to avoid any complications.
If he was my patient,I wouldnt have taken him lightly and might have even admitted him back for couple of days.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
