Brief Answer:
Since how long pain is there?

Detailed Answer:
HI

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P
Thanks for posting your query.

There are many causes of Abdominal Pain .

Common causes are :
1. Gastritis : Due to hypersecretion of acid in the Stomach.
2. Indigestion :
3. Problems in the Liver.
4. Stones in Gallbladder.
5. Pancreatitis.
6. Infections in Kidney or Stones in Kidney.

I need more information about your pain. Like the character of the pain, is it burning , pricking or squeezing ?
Does the pain increases or decreases after having food ?
Is there any vomiting or loose motions ?
Is there any problems in urine ? or Motions ?

I would advise you to get the following tests done and revert back with reports.

USG Abdomen Pelvis , Liver Function tests, Stool for Fat, Ova , Cyst and Serum Lipase.

Will be looking forward for your reply.
Regards.

Pain is constant. Feel urge to vomit but no actual vomiting. Pain seems to be moving downward. Pain is stable by lying on back and still. No desire to even try food. (This is for my husband.) He ate ribs and shrimp about 5 -6 hours ago. However, TUMS and GasX have had no effect.

Brief Answer:
Its Indigestion.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Looking at the description it seems like he is having Acute Gastritis ( Hyperacidity ) with Indigestion.

My advise for him is to get a prescription from his doctor for gastritis and indigestion . In my practise I usually prescribe Rabeprezole with Domperidone and Ariztozyme syrup .

Also avoid non veg food and very oily food . Take more of fruits and water.

If problem still persists get the tests advised previously and revert back .

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.
