default
Posted on Fri, 21 Aug 2015
Question: Yes, I have had stomach flu since Tuesday, nausea vomiting, abnormally low body temp and shivering even sitting in the hot sun. also very week, when I normally have a lot of energy. last weekend I got an bladder infection for which my doctor prescribed an anti biotic -it's finished now but could this be a side effect? Iam female and 74 years old. I've managed to hold down dry crackers ginger ale water mix. And a little plan yogurt, and have experienced no problems with bowel function but I do have some lower back/hip pain. In addition I have pain in the tummy, stuffed ears and sinuses, and a head ache.
I feel wretched . Is there anything I can do at has come to relieve this distress?
Thanks
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Take Ondansetron and continue Ibuprofen.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

I feel that what you are suffering from right now is not the result of antibiotic therapy. At worst antibiotic induced loose motions are treated with lactobacillus. You mention having consumed yoghurt. That too, contains the same, thus we have to help you by asking you to visit a doctor since you need prescription medications here. The first drug that you need is sublingual ondansetron. This is a tablet that you place underneath your tongue and you'll feel relief from nausea and vomiting. As such Ibuprofen is good for pain, in most regions of the body, so keep taking it moderately. You need a face to face meeting with a doctor. In all probabilty a blood test would identify the exact reason behind your problem and pinpoint the right drug to solve the issue. I'm sorry, to minimize suffering and waste of time, money and energy, I repeat get a blood test done and take the exact medication that is indicated
