Brief Answer:
Standard treatments.

Detailed Answer:
would include aspirin like drugs, muscle relaxants of the non-controlled type, antidepressants....but more so physical therapy and exercise. One might in addition.....1) get imaging studies to evaluate if there is an underlying spinal condition. 2) yoga/body awareness techniques 3) relaxation techniques with cognitive behavioral therapy.. this is both for anxiety and also muscle spasms.
The more commonly used antidepressants in fibromyalgia work by having stress hormone effects and this can be a problem in anxiety conditions. Lexapro is quite safe and UNlikely to cause anxiety.
Last, anti-epileptic drugs have been used in both these include pregabalin and gabapentin but, wouldn't be my top choices.

can you recommend any simple exercises that i could try here at home, with out going to physical therapy? This whole thing has been going on for about 2 weeks, and is just about to get the best of me. Is walking good? with the anxiety disorder, my mind tells me that every nasty thing in the book is happening to me..heart attack, stroke, etc. Is it just a matter of resting the affected area and taking the anxiety meds and pain relievers, until things get better...OR should i be up, gardening mowing and all the activities i usually do?
