Question: Hi Doctor

My Name is XXXX,I live in XXXXXXX currently.

My girl child is 4 and half years old.My kid was not responding for low sounds also she dint speak correctly has some problems in pronouncing few words. But she can speak if we correct her.We tested her using BERA and found that she has neural hearing loss that is I was told that she would be able to hear anything above or equal to 70 Db in both ears. They told us hairs cells are not responding propertly. Me and my wife are close relatives,ie my wife is my aunt's daughter. We both are shattered after knowing this and Doctor advised us to have hearing aid for both ears.

As she is a girl child we are very concerned about putting Hearing aid, which would have an impact on others view about the child. Can you let us know do we have any treatments that would cure this hearing loss.

With regards
XXXX

Brief Answer:
in the canal hearing aid or surgery.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that your daughter is having hearing loss.

Based on your clinical details and reports, it occurs to be congenital sensorineural hearing loss.

At 4 years, hearing is very important to have language and speech skills.

As such, hearing loss is severe to moderate to severe, hearing aids or cochlear implants are the choice.

In my opinion, you can try in the ear canal hearing aid (it will be hidden).

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
