Brief Answer:
They are not related to each other.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Neurofibroma and Desmoid type Fibromatosis are different conditions.
Neurofibroma is purely benign.
Desmoid type Fibromatosis is classified as Intermediate neoplasm as it infiltrates into surrounding structures, but no distant spread.Chances of recurrence is very high in spite of radical excision of the swelling. It has the capacity to regress spontaneously. So,if it is near to vital structures, WAIT and WATCH policy will be applied. In many patients, the swelling reduces spontaneously. It is rare in Children.
Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy are given depending on the patient's response to surgery.
Prognosis of Neurofibroma is very good.Once the swelling is removed, chances of recurrence is very rare.
As Desmoid type Fibromatosis doesn't spread to distant organs, the prognosis is also good.It has the disadvantage of local recurrence and involvement of surrounding vital structures causing discomfort.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish her good health and speedy recovery.
Regards
