Suggest Treatment For Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
lifestyle measures and medication
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Non alcoholic steatohepatitis or non alcoholic fatty liver is one of the more common causes of fatty liver at the moment.
Basically it is the build up of fat in the liver mainly due to diet, decreased activity. It can occur on its own or more commonly in persons with diabetes , hypertension, high cholesterol.
The build up of fat can cause inflammation and damage to the liver.
Since it is a related to diet, activity, this forms the core of treatment once there has not been a lot of liver damage.
(1)it has been found that reducing carbohydrate content helps with fat build up. This is because the excess carbs are stored in the liver (and muscles) as fat
This would refer to sodas, pasta, rice, sweets and deserts. They do not need to be eliminated, just reduced.
If reducing carbs is difficult then he or she can use low fat/low calorie diet instead.
Weight loss of any excess weight would help
(2)physical activity- normally at least 150 mins a week is recommended
(3)statins- cholesterol medications can sometimes help as well
(4)actos- a medication that is used for diabetes, has been found to be helpful in persons who are not diabetic but have fatty liver
Unfortunately, at this moment , there are no specific medications for fatty liver
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
Thanks so much for your reply.
