Question : I have non allergic vasomotor rhinitis. Allergy Doc's just tell me to avoid which is impossible. Do you know of anything that might help? Thank you, XXXXXXX

Thank you for your query.

1. Non allergic rhinitis has to be differentiated into the following sub-types:
a. Vasomotor
b. Infection related
c. Occupational
d. Hormonal
e. Gustatory
f. Drug induced (Rhinitis Medicamentosa)
g. NARES (Non Allergic Rhinitis with Eosinophilia Syndrome)

2. The last is a possibility if your current treatment is not helping.

3. Add an anti-leukotriene such as montelukast (Singulair). The rest of the treatment should be effective. As your doctor to vary the combination of medications available till you get relief.

4. There is also the option of surgery to treat severe, non-responding cases.
