Suggest Treatment For Numbness In Hands Caused By Bilateral Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Question: I keep having issues with both hands going numb. It happens most often at night but happens often throughout the night and it wakes me up. My hands are also slightly swollen. This has been going on for 4 or so months now. Any idea what a common cause or fix is for this situation? What type of doctor should I see for this condition?
Brief Answer:
Bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Numbness in both hands is a neurological symptom, and thus, you should consult a Neurologist.
Mos probable conditions that may cause your symptoms are:
1- bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, or compression of median nerve in both hands during its pathway into the wrist (since the numbness worsened at night)
2- peripheral neuropathy, (less probable in your case, but still needs to be considered)
Besides neurological examination, nerve conduction study is needed to have the correct diagnosis.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
