Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
As long as he has had only two bowel movements in one day and no pain at all (abdominal sensitivity to touch), you shouldn't worry to much.
His symptoms seems typical for stomach flue (gastroenteritis), which is related to enterovirosis a self-limited infection. The only recommendation are as follows:
- use plenty of water
- continue with actual diet changes
- use probiotics
- use hydramine
However if the things seems to get worse and the pain increase in intesity you should be concerned and you should contact his pediatrician.
Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Everything I've read implies something more serious.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
Let me explain you again.
Gastroenteritis is the inflammation of gastrointestinal mucosa from viral infection and is associated with food malabsorbtion, oily stools and diarrhea.
Since your son has had only two episodes of oily stools you shouldn't worry about more serious conditions such as malabsorbtion.
If the symptoms of oily stools persist more then a couple of days ( up two weeks ) you should schedule an appointment with his pediatrician to run malabsorbtion tests.
Hope this will be of help!
