Suggest Treatment For Osteoarthritis And Horner's Syndrome In Right Eye

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Mar 2015
Question: I had an anterior cervical double discectomy and fusion on January 31, 2014. I also had a lumbar laminectomy on September 25, 2014. I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. My Sympathetic Nerve was damaged in the during my neck surgery and I have also been diagnosed with Horner's Syndrome in my right eye which has not improved. I was referred to an ophthalmologist who diagnosed floaters due to Virteous degeneration. She also referred me to a Retina Specialist who conducted an Angiogram and determined that I don't have any retina tears or detachments or any bleeding into the eye and is referring me back to the ophthalmologist for a Field Vision Test as well as a referral to a Neuro-Ophthalmologist for further testing. Today I started having continuous flashes in both eyes which is a new symptom. My flashes have previously been noticeable in my right eye only until today. Since I have been checked already for retina detachments and tears and was negative, what could be causing this sudden increase and continuous flashes in both eyes? BTW I do have high blood pressure which is under control with BP meds. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Sudden increase in flashes is seen in retinal tractions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having Horners syndrome and vitreous degeneration.
The sudden onset of flashes of light in people with vitreous degeneration require evaluation by indirect ophthalmoscopy. Floaters and flashes are seen in vitreous degeneration, retinal thinning, retinal tears, prodromal phase of retinal detachment.....
Since you have already undergone evaluation no need to be worried and if the symptoms worsen then I would suggest repeat examination.

Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
