Suggest Treatment For Osteonecrosis
Question: I have osteonocrosis of the hip and its stage 2 with a cyst. I am unsure if I want to go through the core decompression and bone graft and would like to know is it an option to just get a hip replacement?
Brief Answer:
Core decompression should be tried at your stage
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case.Avascular necrosis will required hip arthroplasty one day. But by core decompression you can delay this for few years. So I would suggest you to go for core decompression. Also try to avoid smoking or alcohol. Avoid heavy activities. Take Osteophos 10 mg per day. Remember core decompression is not a substitute and you will need hip replacement.
Thanks

Thats why I'm confused. If it's not a substitute and I'm going to eventually need a replacement why go through this and just go ahead with the replacement?
Brief Answer:
Because you can delay hip replacement
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Hip replacement has its limitation. It works for 20 to 30 years depending on activities. So if you can delay total hip for three five years then it is good for you. Also core decompression is not a big procedure and you will be discharged in one day. So I would suggest you to go ahead with this procedure.
