Suggest Treatment For Osteopenia
Question: should osteoporosis be treated when my dexa scan shows osteopenia and getting closer to the osteoporosis marker on the scale. I am slim and women and 74
Brief Answer:
Need not be treated
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
All osteopenias need not be treated, the treatment depends on the score you got on the scan. If you could let me know the score then I can advice treatment accordingly. For now make sure that your calcium and Vit d are within normal limits.
Osteopenic individuals are more prone to fractures, I recommend not to lift heavy weights, avoid falls and vigorous exercises
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
