Suggest Treatment For Pain And Blisters In Mouth After Inhalation Of Toxic Fumes

I inhaled fumes of mosquito repellent today, and now my mouth and throat hurts and I see little blisters in the back of my mouth. Will it go away by itself? What can I do to have the pain disappear? Can I safely go to sleep, or will it swell up more?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. You should visit an ER and get your throat examined, even though mosquito repellent fumes are not expected to cause such a severe reaction as long as you are not re-exposed.
2. Since it's late evening there I would assume that you can wait a few hours before sleeping, so you can remain under observation for a while. It will also help get away from the fumes and residue.
3. You can request for a prescription for an injectable painkiller or alternately take any routine OTC painkiller with Mucaine Gel or a medicated gargle. In the ER, injectable steroids may be considered to settle the swelling.
4. Kindly keep me informed.
I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
