Suggest Treatment For Pain And Redness After Being Stung On Right Wrist

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jul 2015
Question: I was stung on my right wrist around the base of my thumb @ 50 min ago. I did not see what got me. The site is painful...and he pain and redness is traveling toward my thumb. It is also numb and tingly up my arm towards my shoulder into my jaw. There is no stinger in the wound, I have cleaned it, iced it and put a baking soda mixture on it. I also took antihistamine @ 10 min ago. Is the traveling of tingling, numbness and soreness normal for a sting? Any recommendations?

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It could be due to cellulitis following sting.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

This pain and redness over the wrist at base of thumb could be due to cellulitis but the visual inspection at the lesion would confirm the diagnosis.

So,it would be better if you could provide me clinical picture of that right hand as there is feature to upload photos on the right side of query page which you should utilise.

What you have done so far (cleaning, ice application and over the counter antihistamines) are good but you may also require oral antibiotics (cephalosporins preferred like tab.cefadroxyl) to get rid off completely.

You can consult some local doctor or GP who will know about the drug and can prescribe you.

Tingling, numbness and pain is very much possible after any sting but they may get subsided generally within 2 to 3 days of symptomatic treatment like analgesics, antihistamines.
So, no need to bother much.

Kindly get back to me with images.
