Suggest Treatment For Pain And Redness On The Scrotum

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Nov 2016
Question: I have a pain (burning sensation) on my scrotum. On inspection, there is no enlargement or growth present but the skin of my scrotum is red and sensitive. I saw my G.P. who inspected it but other than recommending an ultra sound ( which I would be a bit embarrassed to have, did nothing. I have now had this burning pain for almost a month. I should mention that there is no blood in my urine or anything unusual...just the burning pain of the outer scrotum and redness. What should I do next?

Brief Answer:
try antifungal

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question
This could possibly be a yeast type infection which is fairly common on the scrotum. The redness does indicate some sort of infection or inflammation.
I would try an over the counter antifungal cream like Lamisil (terbenifine) applied in a thin later to the red areas twice a day for a week.
If this does not clear up the problem then you would probably need to have the ultraound that your doctor recommended.
Please understand that the techs that do the ultrasounds do them all day and have seen many peoples bodies so you really do not need to be embarassed.
Redness can indicate a problem that needs treatment so make sure to get this taken care of soon.

Thank you...I think that is sound advice and I will try using Lamisil. If that doesn't work, I will schedule an ultrasound!
