Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling On Left Side Of Throat
second question - while having my food, I hurt my throat and now got a small wound near the start of my throat (at the top). The wound appears white and the throat skin surrounding it has redness. That is causing issue while swallowing and there is always an irritation, even when i drink water or swallow saliva. Is there any medication that I can take to cure that wound soon.
Thank You !!
Amoxycilin 500 mg three times daily for another 3 days.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
I have read your query and understand the concern,
You should continue with Amoxycilin 500 mg three times daily for another 3 days.(Means you should take for total 5 days).
Also continue with other over the counter pain killers if you are taking for symptomatic relief.
For small wound over the throat (throat or mouth ulcer),you can take vitamin B complex with folic acid once daily for faster healing of that wound.
Zytee gel will also be helpful to get relief from burning/irritation. One or two drops of gel should be applied directly over the wound/ulcer.
Avoid spicy and hot foods and drink plenty of water.
Maintain a good oral hygiene with antiseptic mouthwash.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for all the advise. I will continue with Amoxycilin and vitamin B complex as you directed.
Is there any other option/alternative for Zytee gel ? Since the wound is towards the throat, I cannot reach it directly, hence applying the gel on the wound with bare hands is difficult.
Will betadine gargle (as antiseptic mouthwash) be useful. Are there any known side effects of using it ?

lidocaine viscous solution. BRAND NAME: Xylocaine Viscous 2%
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the quick follow-up,
I can understand your concern,
You can gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine (lidocaine viscous solution,BRAND NAME: Xylocaine Viscous 2%) for symptomatic relief from burning or irritation.
You can also do gargle with betadine and mostly it does not have any side effects.
