Suggest Treatment For Pain And Tenderness In The Foot
Question: Was doing jui-jitsu, rapidly moving backward in a kneeling position with foward foot on the ground and bringing rear knee to ground but toes and foot of that leg hit the mat first with toes curling under and the dorsal portion of fore and mid foot hyper flexing under my full weight (felt/heard a crunching sensation/sound), 5/10 dorsal foot pain increased with movement, mild tenderness to touch worse on dorsal surface, no involvement of ankle, no redness, no numbness, able to flex and extend toes. Hoping to r/o lisfranc/other fxs w/o imaging and looking for input re likelihood of tendon injury. Thanks for your input, and yes I know I need an X-ray but find myself uninsured for the first time in my life. Thanks again!:?)))
Brief Answer:
You need to press at middle of foot on fifth toe.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It is very difficult to comment on fracture or muscle pull with out x rays. I have one trick. Just press over fifth toe at middle of foot. if it is sharp pain only at very small area then it can be fracture. As you are saying that there is no swelling that means Lisfrank is not possible.
Fracture or no fracture treatment is almost same. Do rest ,apply ice and splint. Avoid hanging leg when sitting and keep it over pillow.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
