Suggest Treatment For Pain Around The Navel Area

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Oct 2015
Question: Past 20 days I have been feeling slight pain in the right side of the stomach around my navel. If I draw a line from my navel towards right side then slightly below the line I feel pain when pressing the finger. This pain is bearable and not very much.
One day I ate pizza and the pain increased in night. Day before yesterday also I ate food outside which was spicy and had fat content
Also I feel pain in my lower back and in the rectal passage.
What can be the cause and what should I do?
Pain has remained from yesterday morning but not been severe apart from 2-3 pangs.
A doctor prescribed Meftal Spas and Pantop-D SR which I started taking just now.

Brief Answer:
Features are suggestive of acidity related stomach upset

Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome.
Good afternoon.

I went through the problems described in your query.

It seems you have developed acidity related inflammation of the stomach following consuming hot n spicy and oily food. You also had a similar problem after eating a pizza.

Had I been your treating physician I would have advised the same medications but after a clinical examination. They are found to be effective in reducing pain and cramps associated with inflammation of the stomach.

I would also advise you to avoid eating outside foods. Home cooked foods with less oil and spice will be better for your stomach.

Regarding the low back ache;

1. For how long you have been having this problem?
2. Is there any trauma like lifting heavy objects, etc.?
3. Does this pain move down to the legs (radiating pain to the legs) ?
4. Do you have any tingling or numbness sensation in the thighs or legs?

Awaiting your reply for more suggestion.

Best regards.

The pain is slightly at back at the end of ribcage. Also slight feeling of fatigue in hips.
Lifting weights does not cause trauma but when I have to sit for long durations without leaning slight pain is experienced.

About my earlier mentioned ailment, could holding myself to go to toilet for ejecting stool cause the problem mentioned. This happened because in morning sometimes I could not clean my stomach completely but later when I felt the urge I couldnt get a washroom.

Brief Answer:
Suggestive of lumbago & constipation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your kind reply.

The low back pain could be caused by prolonged sitting or sitting in a wrong posture for hours. This may result in some sort of muscle sprain causing you low back pain.

This can be prevented by:

1. Maintaining good posture while sitting, avoiding wrong postures while sitting on desk top, etc.
2. Daily regular exercise without lifting heavy objects
3. Use NSAID pain gels like Diclofenanc or Mefenenamic acid SOS

Regarding your bowel habit; It seems you have some sort of constipation related issues. This can be minimized by

1. Increasing intake of dietary fibers like vegetables, fruits,
2. Avoiding meat, carbonated soft drinks, coffee, alcohol, hot n spicy foods
3. Taking plenty of oral fluids
4. Daily regular exercise.

Hope I could answer your query.

Regards.

I am afraid of having appendicitis or gastritis. Is my concern valid? After having taken the prescribed medication at 3:00 pm today( approx 7 hrs), pain has not completely gone.

There is no need to worry at this moment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your query.
I can understand your concern.

There is nothing to worry about it.
Taken properly for a prescribed period of 1-2 weeks, these medicines will be effective in reducing the acidity related stomach upset along with dietary modifications as suggested earlier.

Pantop D SR takes some time to take.
Best time to take Pantop 'D is one hour before the breakfast (on empty stomach).
For immediate relief you may take certain antacids like Digene or Gelusil.

Hope to have answered your query.

Best regards.
