Question: I have an ache just below the knee on my right side. The location of the ache is in the forward inside quarter region just below the knee. The ache disappears while seated . However the ache reoccurs when i stand up. Straight line walking results in some achines. Climbing stairs is the most achy. I have been working on my balance using a rocker board.

Brief Answer:
Possible Daignosis: Peripheral vascular disease

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the query at HealthcareMagic,

Pain during walking and climbing stairs, which is relieved while sitting down is most suggestive of peripheral vascular disease.

Peripheral vascular disease is due to blocking in peripheral blood vessels, thereby resulting in reduced blood supply to the leg and pain while walking, called claudication pain.

Confirmation of diagnosis is by imaging studies assessing blood flow to legs. Cholesterol, blood sugar levels and hypertension levels should also be checked.

Treatment of peripheral vascular disease is with aspirin, cilostazol, control of cholesterol and blood sugar, exercise and rarely surgery to re-establish blood flow is needed.
It is also important to stop smoking if you do.

Please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider and discuss these for necessary evaluation.

Hope I was able to help you
