Question: I am 71, with "severe" OA, Fibromyalgia. But after our Son passed away (42) now 7 years ago my life for the most part stopped for ca. 2.5 Years. I was referred to a Psychiatrist, who, after watching me for a couple of months prescribed me "Dexedrine (?)" and I was able to have a bit of a life back. I was able to do a few things other than just cry. This Doctor retired, and another treated me well also. He moved, and the 3rd. Doc. took me off of the med. without anything to replace it.
My fibro. and OA with many "impinchments" make me so very tired, and the crying is back most every day.
This is not the life I can bear much longer, what can I do?
Having talked with the doctor my Mother had in Germany, I understand that I have to be helped. I don't know where?
Also, husband had a quad. bypass, and is not doing well. I need to take care of him.
Best Regards,

Dear Madam,
Thaank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that there is no cure for your severe OA then for knee replacement rest everything is palliative . Plus your fibromyalgia is also troubling you .
There is not much to do but I will advise you to start doing quadriceps exercises , you can take paracetamol for pain relief which happens to be a mild agent if there is no contraindication . You can use topical analgesic gels . Other thing is to discuss with your doctor having cortisone injections in the knee which are very helpful in alleviating the symptoms.
For Fibromyalgia you need to improve the sleep pattern and Duloxetine will be the best drug for your setting . You can talk to your treating doctor regarding these options.
Take care.
