Suggest Treatment For Pain Due To Fracture On Face And Neck

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: I've recently been prescribed Nuerontin 300mg 3x's daily. I used to suffer from moderate, occasional migraines. Due to a car accident, I succumbed to multiple fractures in my face and back. The injuries that are halting my life are my fractured jaw that ended up puncturing my ear canal, causing my migraines to be much more frequent and absolutely more painful. Also, I fractured a vertebrae in my mid back, and was just diagnosed with moderate scoliosis. When should I expect any relief from this medication? Is there anything between the lines you might be able to help me with, au contraire to the formidable stockpile of what I've already researched? I would LOVE help and opinion. Thank you very much.

Brief Answer:
It may take 3 to 4 weeks more for recovery.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.

It may take 3 to 4 weeks more for recovery.
Pain free state will depend on fracture healing and internal damage.

Continue Nuerontin till that time
Physiotherapy and guided exercises along with, TENS will help in early recovery.

Hot fomentation will help in reducing pain.

Many of my patients get relief from chronic pain by yoga pranayama and XXXXXXX XXXXXXX so you can also due that.

After clinical examination, medications for migraine like sumatriptans can be started consulting your doctor.

Lifestyle Modifications will help to reduce headache episodes
- Proper nutrition
- Regular physical activity
- Adequate sleep
- Stress reduction strategies
• Identify and avoid triggers (e.g., tobacco smoke, strong odours, or sprays).
• Address workplace ergonomics. (Attention to workplace ergonomics and instruction in self-care of neck tension can have a dramatic effect on headache frequency.)

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
