Suggest Treatment For Pain Due To Gastritis

Generally after three months he seems to be improving, but lately has hit a plateau - and though he doesn't have as much pain every day as he did when he started, he still has bursts of pain...and sometimes (like today) for no apparent reason.
Lately he says that the pain moves from just under his sternum (where it's been most of the time) across to the right side of under his rib cage.
1.Should mild gastritis create significant pain? He continues to work -- though some days he has had to stay home (about 4 in the last three months)
2.Will continued soft diet, exercise, supplements, therapy give him a strong chance of healing
3. should he see more healing by now, and have fewer flare ups
4. is there anything else we should be considering -- i feel like we've tried it all - this is tremendously frustrating.
How worried is he about this?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about what your son has been experiencing. It sounds like he never knows just what to expect in terms of his health and this should be very frustrating for anyone to deal with. I share your frustrations and hope we would be able to find ways to help put this behind him.
I have reviewed all the information provided carefully.
1.Should mild gastritis create significant pain? He continues to work -- though some days he has had to stay home (about 4 in the last three months):
Mild gastritis should not cause this. And more to this, he is on a ton of medications that should be able to control this gastritis related pain. The fact that he has continued to experience symptoms is concerning to me and should prompt further evaluation.
2.Will continued soft diet, exercise, supplements, therapy give him a strong chance of healing:
All these measures would help with good health. However, the main problem needs to be identified and addressed as well. The fact that correct and well administered gastritis drugs have been used with no great relief means we may be missing out on something from a therapeutic trial stand point. I would have expected him to be feeling a lot better at this time.
I will like that he should be evaluated by a gastroenterologist. With this pain moving across to the right and of varying intensity and not constant could be related to the gall bladder. Why not get the gall bladder and bile tracts evaluated for any possible abnormalities that could explain this.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services abd feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. I wish your son well.
